On September 8, 2018, I went with my husband and daughter to the March for Climate, Jobs, and Justice in San Francisco. It started at the Embarcadero Plaza and finished at the Civic Center Plaza. The march featured a coalition of dozens of climate protection groups, from Indigenous nations, to 350.org, to students, teachers, religious, social justice and environmental groups. I learned that there are far more groups concerned with climate protection than I thought, and that none of us are alone in the struggle to protect our environment.
For my LTI this summer, I got to ride a bike to a number of amazing civil rights sites in Atlanta. We were able to see the Ebenezer Baptist Church where Martin Luther King, Jr. was the Reverend, his office, amazing art from the area, and heard stories about the civil rights struggles of Atlanta. I was absolutely astonished with the history, the warmth of the people, and the talent of the artists.
